A warrior’s Psalm

Leaders have the ability to override their emotions when their immediate attention is needed to carry out due responsibility. This causes their followers to assume that all is well and good with them. Ministers of the gospel often fall prey to this. Ministers are like chefs; they prepare the food for others to eat but many of them never get to taste out of it, they get others filled but they go home famished.

The warriors’ psalm is a confession I believe every leader should take daily knowing and acknowledging their human limitations. The strength of a Christian is found in his unwavering trust in the Lord (Psalm 31:14) beholding God’s goodness (Psalm 31:19)

I am of my own a leper, marching towards the Syrians,

Thou hast amplified my footfall to that of a thousand warriors,

At the sound of my presence, the enemy cowers and takes flight,

I am of my own, a leper,

I am of your own, a great army,

For thou hast formed and made me like I AM,

You are the captain of lepers and in them, you choose your mighty men,

Even in my weakness, your strength is made perfect,

You are the lord of hosts,

Captain of conquerors,

Thou hast made me like I AM,

But I am of my own; a leper.

This poem was written by inspiration as I studied the book of 2 Kings 7:3–10. Unknown to the lepers, they had a purpose to fulfill which they did in their desperation to live at the risk of death by famine or murder. A prophecy had been spoken concerning the land and they stumbled into purpose.

They trusted not in their abilities cos (they had none anyway). Take a step of faith, confess this poem, find healing and comfort from the scriptures

(Rom 15:4: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope).

We know you are strong (or act like it) but allow yourself to be vulnerable to the Holy Spirit of God. Let him comfort you and dispel your grief. Blessings!

Pray this:

Father, please let your Holy Spirit minister healing into my weary heart. I put my trust in you. Amen.
