The bible is replete with God’s promises, we confess them, but it doesn’t seem to have any empirical effect in our lives, why? Sometimes, the clergy prays and proclaim prophecies over the congregation; they all say amen but leave the same way they came, why? I have noticed many times that in the quest of bringing God’s purposes to pass in the lives of people that the problem isn’t in the proclaiming of the blessings but how the promises of God were received. This restless hustle sadly causes some Christians to transition from their faith into agnosticism-they begin to find faults with their faith; retaining in their minds somewhere that there might be a God but they end up trying to save themselves.

Psalms 119:32 (KJV) I will run the way of thy commandments when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

The doctors call “cardiomegaly”, a condition where the heart of a human being is enlarged. In many cases, it is due to hypertension or others, a disease (I should have studied medicine but err… Nah!). Anyways, having a physically enlarged heart is bad for a human but to birth the purposes of God, a small spiritual heart (an untrained spirit man) will need to be enlarged. It is easy to close your eyes and dream of yourself sleeping in one of the suites of the Burj Khalifa on vacation (this ease is usually possible because the mind learns how to build an escape mechanism from the struggles of life and this sometimes aimless imaginations help inspire a man). Conversely, when God gives a man a dream that he shall be a business tycoon in Dubai but he only has 5 dollars in his pocket, that man will doubt because he is focusing on his current situation and not on the promise of God. It is many times due to a small heart.
Genesis 13:15 (KJV) For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever

This scripture in Genesis tells the story of modern-day Israel. Father Abraham had just left Haran (modern-day southeastern Turkey) under God’s instruction. God promised this man a new land (an empire, etc.), when he got there, God said to him, “as far as your eyes can see”. Humanly speaking even when you stand on the highest mountain in today’s Israel, you cannot see all of it. But Abraham “used to be” an astrologer so he understood how to read the story of stars. God had just opened the eye of his mind to see the entire Israel from a spot.

Colossians 1:9 (KJV) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

In the kingdom of God, our progress is largely measured by how we perceive and receive spiritual things. When God tells you that you will be a great business tycoon for the sake of His kingdom, do you just start running to school to learn all the business principles you can find or you ask Him in deep meditation to open your inner eyes? It is not enough to know what God is saying to you concerning your life but to see what He is showing you in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. That ability to see into His will in detail will stir your faith In the right direction to take. You can then say the word is a lamp to your feet and light unto your path (Psalms 119:105). The children of Israel couldn’t enter the promised land because their hearts were not enlarged. Yes, they were children of the promise. They had an idea of where they were going (a land that flows with milk and honey) however, their disobedience, murmuring, idolatry revealed their shrunken heart which they carried from Egypt.
So let me ask, are you seeing 5 dollars in your wallet or has God shown you vividly in your heart, open heavens over your finances? What do you see?
