Masturbation Again?

Romans 6:12 (TPT) Sin is a dethroned monarch; so you must no longer give it an opportunity to rule over your life, controlling how you live and compelling you to obey its desires and cravings.

There is idleness that lurks within and every time we allow it, it drives us way past the speed limits of cognitive functions into the realm where purpose becomes out of sight. Alas, we are alone with the thoughts influenced by another unseen external force. Suddenly, eureka, the “aha- horny moment” where we turn off the lights; shut the window blinds, lock the doors and get rather comfortable almost without clothing. Then, we ensure a strong internet connection. We type “www.porn.porn" the provoking images and GIFs of sex models and porn stars pacifying us intently to partake in a pseudo-love affair. We then in response begin to make love to our genitals as we bask in the euphoria of the vivid images cast into our minds careening at a speed of over 24 frames per second. What races even faster is the palpitating rhythm set at 130 beats per minute that our hearts drum to. Then the orchestra cadences in a sforzando as the victorious victim of pornography grinds his heart to a blurry halt and for the believers amongst them, guilt begins to take over. “what have I done Lord?”, “Who shall deliver me from this body of death?” and other related questions. This my friend, is an allegory of what usually happens when a Christian sees porn and masturbates accordingly. Let us see what our darling Jesus has to say about this.

Matthew 5:27 (AMP) You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery.

But I say to you that everyone who so much as looks at a woman with evil desire for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

You cannot masturbate without engaging your mind by picturing the opposite sex lustfully. Masturbation is simply Augmented Reality sex. It is fornication(or adultery) by proxy.

We have been delivered from the curse of the law but we don’t realise that the law of the spirit is of a much higher standard of which more is expected. The good news is that God now resides in us but we must allow Him to will and to do through us so that we may work out the salvation in us that Jesus had already worked for.

1 John 3:20 (KJV) For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

If you think God hates you, then He will not have me vividly testify about His Love for you because, like you, I had been bound by the acts described in the first paragraph but God’s love saved me. Let me show you how. It is an unorthodox way and I will most probably be criticized by others but I don’t mind being so because I am convinced that this will help someone going through this.

It is possible to be a Christian and be depressed, sickly, poor and bound by lust. So we must then understand that our salvation is tri-fold (Spirit, soul and body). We are saved (meaning once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we qualify to be Children of God), we are being saved (we have to constantly renew our minds as Christians and unlearn our old ways) and we shall be saved (at the rapture when we are leaving the earth, we have been promised new incorruptible bodies).

So if you aren’t a Christian please accept the Lord into your heart. Believe that Jesus came to earth and died for your sins that you may be reconciled as a child of God and pray this. “Lord Jesus, please come into my heart; be my Lord and Savior, forgive my sins. I believe you died for my sins. I believe that I am a child of God. Amen) — If you said this prayer, please write to the ministry, our email is at the footer.

(Please refer to the last write up “porn again” to see the steps on how to overcome pornography) The steps are essentially the same only that I will add something to it that I learnt from Rev. Kenneth Hagin when he was counselling a nicotine addict.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (AMP) Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honour God and bring glory to Him in your body.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (AMP) So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honour and glory of God.

So the next time you are tempted to masturbate (or you find yourself masturbating) just begin to give glory to God. For example:

As you commit that act, just say “Lord I thank you because you dwell in my body, I give glory to your name, let this act bring glory to your name”.

I remember when I tried this, I felt so silly afterwards. I knew of course that this act will not bring glory to God. But I realised that I wasn’t alone. I also realised that the more I confessed it, the more I felt God’s Love envelope me and I felt a constraining but gentle force which prevented me from doing such things again. I then remembered what Apostle Paul said, “…Now I am a man, I must forsake all childish things (1 Cor 13:11)”

When believers fall out of grace (worship and fellowship with God), sin becomes attractive -Joseph Prince, New Creation Church

Romans 7:25 (AMP) O thank God! [He will!] through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One) our Lord! So then indeed I, of myself with the mind and heart, serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

The devil wants to render us unproductive for God, he wants to ensure we do not bear spiritual fruits of righteousness. Pornography, Masturbation and all other works of the flesh as itemised in Galatians 5:19 are simply tools of puppetry he uses to control us so he can do his three-fold will on the earth (to steal, kill and destroy- John 10:10). The way to insulate ourselves from these vices is simply to dwell in with God (Psalms 91:1) in fellowship. I noticed that anytime I spent days without fellowshipping with God, sin became attractive, it became easy to fall back into those bad habits. Have a constant and consistent routine of worship.

Galatians 5:25 (KJV) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Every time we spend with God gives him equity in our possessing fully our hearts and permission to lead and direct us. In this period when we all are compulsorily indoors, take advantage of this opportunity and spend time worshipping God, allow His love to permeate your being and any time a negative (sexual in this case) thought comes rushing in, do not attempt to dismiss it out of hand without speaking to it. Use your words against negative thoughts. For instance, when a thought to masturbate comes, begin to say things like “my body is the temple of the holy spirit”, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”, “Sin is beneath me”, “the Love of God constrains me”. Ensure that you have a constant and consistent time of communion with God. You cannot resist the devil without being submissive to God.

Bolu Olatunji

Pray like this: I receive God’s grace to live above all the works of the flesh so that I may please Him and bring glory to His name in everything I do. Amen
