Let’s start by saying…..
Happy new year
Thank you for connecting with us from all over the world.

This writing will be addressing our word for the month (which essentially, is the promise God has given to us in this month) which is a subset of our word for the year (Supernatural enlargement — Psalms 71:21).

Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

An antecedent to Joel 2:23 described God’s displeasure in the nonchalance of the children of Israel in managing their resources and in-service towards God (Please study Joel 1 for more details). God through the prophet Joel called for their repentance (which means to change the way one thinks).
Then the prophet also began to foretell an event in which he called “the day of the Lord”. He went on to describe the kind of people that will champion that event and for them to partake in that action, he asks them to repent yet again with fasting. He said one thing towards the end of that admonition. He said “ Rejoice”

We are in the day of the lord and the lord requires of us that we spend time getting to know Him. It will require us to study his word, to pray, to fast (abstinence from food in this case) and also to give thanks for the things our senses can perceive that he has done.

I perceive strongly that the Lord will have us set apart 21 days of thanksgiving. In these days, we are going to take cognizance of what God is doing and has promised us that he will do. We will thank him even for the seemingly little things. And we aren’t going to bribe him as we always have. We aren’t going to thank Him so that He can bless us (He has already promised us open heavens anyways). We will thank him because we truly appreciate him.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

1Corinthinas 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

This year also, Holiness will be our watchword (now this is not to be sin-conscious but righteousness-responsible). Holiness is the very life of God and scriptures has commanded that we be holy. In other words, you are like a live wire and there is a way live wires are carried. Tremendous physical and spiritual benefits come from fasting and we will explore them as we progress. However, the primary purpose for our fast is to consecrate ourselves to Him as if to say “I am yours Lord”. We are confident in surrendering to Him because we know that He has only good intentions towards us.
When we see all God has done for us in glory, the best way to respond in worship is to offer ourselves to Him. Selah.

Pray this: Lord thank you for all you have done. Please give me strength and grace to surrender continually to you.
