I was praying on a night in May 2019 and was caught in what seemed to be an open vision. In this experience, I saw a hand hit the fast-forward button of a media player and I saw people desperately engaged, careening through life to fend for their families, partaking in the vanities of life in a bid to make some meaning out of it.

I believe that we live in a time where the hearts of men lack rest because of anxiety (worrying over nothing). People go to bed only to wake up tired. We seem to be in a hurry to have everything thus; fast food, fast life, fastest fingers, fast forward, the search of ready- made (wo)men. Anxiety robs us of our peace. We’re in times were services are expected to be delivered pronto which has affected how we manage expectations. Psalms 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows (worry): for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

When things don’t come “on time”; don’t happen as planned, our newly acquired response is to freak out! Who has bewitched us? We have misplaced the practice of patience that our progenitors gained mastery of. 24 hours now seems like 2.4 hours. We seem to be anxious over everything which is the total opposite of what we were instructed by scriptures. This has even affected relationships in that we are no longer patient enough to prayerfully expect people change their not-so-good habits; we aren’t patient to be with someone till they finally hit the bedrock of success. Someone said “we are in a micro-wave generation were everything must be ready in ten-minutes.”

When last did you pause to observe your breath, the thoughts that you think. Or when did you last look at the greenery of the fields or the graceful rhythmic movements of the clouds. When last did you give audience to the singing birds or the rustling trees? Don’t you think you are too worried for a (wo)man of faith? Don’t you think there is something wrong with the way we order our lives? And this is not to diss technology or other inventions of men but this is to question our dependence on them.

Take a walk, feel the breeze against your face. Commune with your heart as you lay on your bed. Meditate, sing psalms, pray in the holy ghost. Listen out for the Holy Spirit. Be still and Know that I am God (Says Psalm 46:10a). This implies that we make decisions based on the information available to us. It then means that if we must function by the mind of Christ with the information available to Him, we must attain stillness.

This is my message to you. Pause…

Text:

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe you are with me and that you care for me. I give to you all my cares and burden as I take in your peace.
