Peekaboo- come out of hiding

We all are not without a past. But we try to live life as though we had no inner struggles. I, for instance, have made many moral mistakes in the time past which were a result of faulty mental models that were deliberately but subconsciously etched into me in my pre-teen years. What made it worse was that these mental models (which we now affectionately call strongholds) were constantly being reinforced as I lived the precedence set by them. Many of us start out in life deciding not to end up making similar mistakes as our progenitors only to find out after many merry-go-rounds that we are trapped in the past. We then exclaim we deep-seated grief like Apostle Paul said: “who shall deliver me from this body of Death?” We are greeted with a sense of unworthiness, guilt and much grief without any glimmer of hope of being delivered.

Here is little “poetry,” I wrote whilst reflecting on this:

Man gives up far too easy on himself thinking God has forsaken him.

This fallacy is the sole reinforcement of the cares of guilt he carries.

Little does he realize that though he falls seven times,

There is a hand in him to lift him back up:

Yet he puts his trust in the defenceless cities of his soul.

This is the very beginning of the end;

The real sin is not in the fall, It is in him forsaking his mercy,

revelling in the imperial quagmire of willful afflictions of the past.

1Peter 2:9 (KJV) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

When Adam and Eve Sinned, they hid themselves for fear of condemnation knowing what they had done. They sewed fig leaves for themselves. You can translate to saying, they put up a front of perfection for themselves to cover their wrong deeds. God in his mercy sewed a cloth of skin for them to show his unfeigned love for mankind. But before He sewed the clothes for them, before he wrapped a cloak of protection and healing around them, He first called them out of hiding. They had to own up to their faults (as though God didn’t know what happened).

My dear friend, God is saying to you “Peekaboo, I see you”. Contrary to the wrong Judgement of yourself, He is saying to you, “I do not condemn you but rather, I love you”. Come out of hiding, open up your heart to Him. It is okay to cry; the tears of a repentant heart is the healing balm for its soul. Let God help you disconnect from your past. Come to God as you are; don’t suck it up. He sees where you are hurting. But it is with the confession of your mouth that the saving of your soul takes its full effect.

Bolu Olatunji

Pray this: Dear God, I have sinned, walked in merry-go-rounds. I am willing to open up to you. I am willing to be naked before you because I now trust that you will clothe me with your righteousness and not judge me guilty. Be my Lord and saviour. Help me disconnect from the strongholds of my past. I believe that I am a born again.

Amen!

Please write to me telling about this new healing experience you must have found as you prayed this prayer.
