The purpose of prophetic utterances

“It appears that God will do nothing unless we pray”- John Wesley. The underlying question here is, How do we pray (about birthing God’s purposes) without knowing God’s will? The Answer is in Prophecies.Let us begin by defining what prophecies are. Prophecies are the declarations of the intent l of God concerning a person, a nation or the course of the earth with respect to time.

As Rev. Kenneth Hagin of blessed memory will say, “Prophecy in the Old Testament is the foretelling of events, Prophecy in the New Testament is the forth-telling of the promises of God”. It is worthy of note, that prophetic utterances often have a latent and deeper meaning than at first appears. We can surmise by saying that, prophecies are expositions of the will of God. They are inspired by the Holy Spirit. It can then be inferred well beyond hypothesis, that the bible is not just a historical book of God’s dealings with man through time but also a prophetic document of His will trapped into time. It is a compendium of God’s thoughts and must be the first resort for every Christian.

2Timothy 3:16–17 (NLT) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. The purpose of prophecies is that the (wo)man of God ( the Christian) will be fully aware of all that God has done; to inform all that God is doing and to prepare them for all that God intends to do through them and for them. Remember, Christianity is a partnership between God and man. Thus, for God to do anything on the earth, He will need a man to agree with Him. Now let’s read some carefully arranged verses of scripture together.

Genesis 18:17 (KJV) And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;

Galatians 3:29 (NLT) And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and now all the promises God gave to him belong to you.

1Peter 2:9 (NLT) … you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God’s holy nation, his very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Amos 3:7 (KJV) Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

John 15:15 (NLT) I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn’t confide in his servants. Now you are my friends since I have told you everything the Father told me.

Isaiah 41:8 (NLT) “But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from my friend Abraham,

Please if you did not read the scriptures above (as the default habit of many Christians, please go back and read it) before we fight 😒. Many times we hear a prophetic utterance from various denominations for example, “Our year of breaking limits” “our year of quantum leaps” “our year of supernatural enlargement” and so on. These utterances are not mere mantras we chant just to make us elated with the attempt to isolate us from the happenings in the world. Embedded in these utterances is the will of God proclaimed over a people (denomination) for a specific purpose. Before God does anything as we have seen in Amos 3:7, without first telling His people so that they can legislate it on the earth. Remember God and even the devil cannot do anything on the earth unless by the agreement of man.

You may then ask, “why is it that the various denominations have different ‘spiritual emphasis’?”

The answer Is simply this. Every denomination is set up to do different things just as the human body has many parts (please read 1 Corinthians 12:12–27) and thus different spiritual emphasis. The main purpose of the hand is to feel and lift things but you can use it to write etc. likewise, other parts of the body. If you look at it with the eyes of truth without any bias, you will realise that though their points of spiritual emphasis are different, it births in collective harmony, the will of God on the earth. So, fret not! It’s all good. On a lighter note, your local church might just be the kidney in the body of Christ 🤣!

This month in TSL is our month of divine guidance (Psalms 32:8) it means that the point of spiritual emphasis for our ministry, is that God wants us to pay attention to His guidance even more than ever before to help us achieve our word for the year which is (supernatural enlargement- Psalms 71:21) thus, contributing to the growth of the Church at large.
