Thy will be done

There is one thing I would like to put forward first as a precedent to this “devotional”. Like quinine, it may be quite a bitter pill to swallow but if you could take it in good faith, you will realise this singular truth is medicine for your soul. Furthermore, as Pastor Chingtok Ishaku will say, “no matter how long your assumptions may last, it will never change the state of the truth”. Now, this is a truth you should know:
God is wiser than you!
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
The will of a man or of God, in this case, is His intent, or desires towards the Creation of His hands.
Matthew 6:10 (KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
When Jesus said “thy will be done in earth” He wasn’t just saying to God, “Do as you like”. Jesus was speaking from a place of spiritual understanding having spent over a decade of His human life, studying the will of God and even debating His findings in the synagogue right from the age of twelve. So when He uttered that speech, He was saying to God, “father, I know your will and I am in agreement with you, Let it be done through me”
Philippians 2:5–8 (KJV) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Jesus could birth the will of God because He knew it, and understood his place in God’s will and how to implement it through a paradox of surrendered authority. So what then is the will of God? The will of God as we may now know is a master plan with sub-plans. The master plan of God is redemption (that all men may be like him- attaining their God-given destinies, ruling at His side by the privilege of sonship through adoption).
The sub-plans are like little springboards that make us attain the fullness of what God has given. Let’s look at a few according to Isaiah 61: 1–7:
Salvation: As Evang. Reinhard Bonkke will say, “Salvation is the greatest miracle”. It is the desire of God that all men be saved. God hates the wickedness displayed in this world. God wants to partner with humanity to end the madness in it.
Healing and Deliverance: God isn’t petty! He doesn’t go about looking for people to punish with diseases. Instead, He seeks for men to partner with to release healing. He wants you delivered from the vices of the devil!
Prosperity: I will talk more elaborately on this as I am led by His spirit. God is not glorified when a believer is broke! No! Scripture says “God delights in the prosperity of His servants- Psalms 35:27b. God is not responsible for your being broke! You are! But He can help you get back on your feet if you will only partner with Him.
Man was put in charge of this earth but He relinquished his authority to the devil. A balance was made through salvation. In order to tip the balance of dominion, man and God must return to partnership (covenant). Thus, God cannot do anything on earth for the sake of humanity unless man allows him to. Let’s call it the “democracy of divine intervention”. Unless God is voted in through the surrender of man, man will remain helpless. This may be hard to swallow, but remember this, God is smarter than you. When you yield to His will, you will realise that true dominion comes through surrender.
Final question… When do you intend to surrender to Him?
