Sequel to the last post, the objective of this episode is to help us understand why we need to honour God with and in our bodies. This is something that I personally believe is taught in a few spheres today. We need to be deliberate about how we order our lives. As Christians, there is a way to conduct our conversations. The word “Holiness” seems too old-fashioned but funnily, it is as contemporary as it can get. Before we go on, might I add that we are not addressing sin- consciousness but are learning to be righteousness-responsible. Oya lets go!

1Pe 1:14 –16 (KJV) As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.

In the text above, the dearly beloved Apostle Peter was making an address about how we are made like God and that purity is god-like. However, it is possible to have God on your inside and still live like a slave. Many of us are children of the covenant however, our actions demonstrate profanity (apologies if it sounds harsh). That you feel like doing something doesn’t mean that it is healthy for you. That it feels good doesn’t mean it is good.

That it is in vogue doesn’t mean that it is in Grace. Jesus did not die for you so that you can whore your way into glory. God forbids! You are responsible for the life you live in Christ. Work out your salvation because it has been worked for. There Is a scripture that I want to paraphrase in the king James that says ‘… all things are lawful but not all things are expedient…’ it means that we have a free will to do what ever we choose but will our choice of actions please God? I like how the New Living Translation puts it. It says…

1 Cor 10:23 (NLT) You say, “I am allowed to do anything “ — but not everything is helpful. You say, “I am allowed to do anything “ — but not everything is beneficial.

That Konji (see the last post for reference) is doing you doesn’t mean you should do it. There is a lot of things that we now consider normal in the name of “love” (which is lust) masturbating to porn, group marriages (polyamory) and sundry. Let me strike a balance by saying, God loves the LGBTIQCAPGNGFNBA folks etc., but he discourages those acts because from the beginning (according to God’s plan), it was not so and before you go thinking that this is the 21st century, ask Moses, ask Sodom. God created love, but we have been led to believing perversion is fun.

The world has shown us the pseudo-pleasures of lust. It is time we reveal the true pleasures of love. Remember you have a free will; but look where it has led you. The truth of the matter remains that God loves the heck out of you and if you give him a chance, he will love the remaining hell out of you. I therefore dare you to live holy! I dare your curiousity into loving rightly. I dare you!
